In the early 2010s, the Bonafide Ebenezer Junior School was opened in Eastern Uganda by our Director, Becky Katushabe.
Becky's dream for the school and attached boarding facility was to bring children to school and empower their futures through education. By doing so, Becky began to see the need in her community was greater than she could have ever imagined. For a few years, she brought children from all over the community to come to her school, even if they were unable to afford school fees and uniforms.
Pulling funds from her own pocket, Becky's dream was becoming a reality. In early 2017, however, the school suffered a structurally damaging fire and, due to needed repair costs and diminishing funds, she began to think closure would be forced upon the school.
God had other plans, though.
In the summer of 2017, Becky met and became friends with Mika, and international volunteer, and together, they founded Tendo Ministries.
Now, 3 years later, Tendo Ministries is a US 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is on its way to becoming a Ugandan NGO.
